Failing to act could cause irreversible social and economic damage. We must ensure that food is still grown, harvested and transported, to feed the world – and leave no one hungry.

Covid close to home – how the Yara family is playing its part

Watermelons unloaded from a truck
In Myanmar, struggling watermelon farmers were unable to export their produce to China because of the Covid-19 restrictions on the border. Yara bought two truck-loads of their produce and donated them to three local hospitals.
Delivery truck in Colombia
In Colombia, truck delivery drivers are among the few citizens allowed to travel freely. Shops and restaurants are closed and local communities shun them for fear of the virus. As a result the drivers have nowhere to eat. Those delivering to our plants in Colombia are offered a lunch or dinner.
Local street sweepers in India
In Maharashtra, one of the worst affected areas of India, Yara employees have distributed masks and sanitizers to frontline workers particularly exposed to Covid-19, such as those cleaning the streets and collecting garbage.

North America
In North America, restaurants are closed and many farmers have little choice but to dispose of their crops. Yara donates to food banks that actively support struggling farmers, buying their produce directly and distributing it through their systems.

Operational status

Yara’s operations are running well. We continuously monitor the status, especially regarding operational staff and logistical challenges. Keep up to date on the situation here.
